Churchill Resources Inc. has announced exceptional high-grade antimony and gold assay results from its Black Raven property in Central Newfoundland. Due-diligence sampling at the historical Frost Cove Antimony mine and Stewart Gold mine yielded impressive figures, confirming the significant mineral potential of the site and positioning Frost Cove as a globally important antimony project.

Key Discoveries at Black Raven

  • Antimony: Samples from the Frost Cove Antimony mine returned 35.1% and 29.7% antimony. These results exceeded initial detection limits, necessitating overage assaying.
  • Gold: A sample from the Stewart Gold mine showed 14.4 g/t gold.
  • Historical Context: The Frost Cove antimony veins and host felsic dyke have been traced over 800m on the surface, with numerous historical samples exceeding 1% antimony.

Strategic Importance of Antimony

Antimony is classified as a critical mineral due to its essential role in national security and modern technology. Over 90% of global production is controlled by non-Western jurisdictions, primarily China and Russia. Its applications include military uses, flame retardants, battery strengthening alloys, and emerging energy storage technologies. Recent Chinese export restrictions have driven prices to record highs, underscoring the strategic importance of domestic North American sources for economic and national security.

Exploration and Future Plans

Paul Sobie, CEO of Churchill Resources, expressed confidence in these high-grade results, noting that previous historical sampling at Frost Cove also indicated ultra-high-grade antimony concentrations. The company is immediately launching its summer surface exploration program. This will involve trenching and channel sampling at Frost Cove and Stewart, along with systematic mapping and sampling of the entire mineralized package. Neither the Frost Cove Antimony nor the Stewart Gold mine have been drilled to date.

Property Overview

The Black Raven Property, located approximately 60km northwest of Gander, encompasses two past-producing mines from the late 1800s: the Frost Cove Antimony Mine and the Stewart Gold-Antimony Mine. The property consists of a contiguous block of 125 claims, covering 3,125 hectares. The area is also approximately 100km north of the Beaver Brook Antimony Mine, which is reportedly scheduled for re-opening, with its owners actively seeking additional deposits to supply their mill. Churchill Resources benefits from the ability to conduct year-round, cost-effective exploration in this favorable jurisdiction, which could lead to rapid project development.
